Dior Barnes founded Episteme, Inc. with Edward Gareau and Charvian Willaims, known by their mask personas: Lioness, Fox, and Owl, to create the Technological Assistance Device (“TAD”). Dior seeks her father’s approval as she continues to advance TAD’s capabilities to control a person’s mind. Unfortunately, Edward proposes marriage with the world watching and uses the dreaded words, “I love you.” Dior’s father does not approve of Edward. Although Edward is a talented hacker, inventor of TAD, and owner of a trillion-dollar corporation, her father only sees Edward for his white trash roots. Because of the public marriage proposal and for the sake of passing a federal privacy bill through Congress, Dior agrees to a façade engagement with Edward that will promptly end after the bill passes. As she navigates lobbying efforts and terrorist threats, Dior must balance her father’s expectations with her true feelings for Edward because maybe . . . just maybe, she is in love with Edward Gareau.
